Twelve portraits, one for each month, in the manner of a Renaissance or Baroque master.
The sitters are sea creatures, and each one is dressed for its own month: lace and falling snow in January, a study hung with maps in March, reeds and new leaves in April, a gold crown in August, ragged cloth and murky water in October, and jewelled gold in December.

A3, which is 11.7 by 16.5 inches or 297 by 420 mm, wire bound at the top.
Week numbers run down the left margin.
